Hats for Guys at the Yarn Ball

One of the suggestions last year was more things for guys. Joe took the suggestion to heart and made these hats. He has become quite the specialist in slip knitting or perhaps it is called mosaic knitting. Whatever it is called, he is obviously now a specialist of doing it in the round, too. And some lucky men will be able to select a fantastic hat at the Yarn Ball.

A Helmet Liner

Maria is new to the group. She was thrilled that Rebecca could help her with a problem she was having. She just finished the helmet liner this past week. Looks like she did a great job.

The knitters and crocheters of the U.S. have really stepped up to help with this problem. I've read about quite a few groups that are making the liners. Even I made one when Knit One was collecting them.

Maria is a good example of why yarn groups are are a good idea. Stuck? Confused? Someone in the group can probably help or find some help. Want to be involved in a charity project? Our group has donated so many items to so many causes I can't keep count. Then each of us will see that something is needed and they are free to work for that cause on their own. Even personal projects are wonderful to share. But then we're so proud of what everyone accomplished. Of course, that's not to mention all the fun that is had just being together.

More Items for the Yarn Ball

Paulette knitted these socks for the Yarn Ball. It's self striping yarn but the two socks look almost identically striped. They are for about a size 8 woman.

Shelli finished her 3rd pair of baby booties. These are for the littlest yellow & gold fan.

Rebecca made the lace shawl. I feel the color is not accurate because of the blue top I was wearing. The yarn is a soft greyed blue and really looks blue in reality.

All great efforts on the part of the group to hopefully have popular items at the Yarn Ball.

A New Arrival

Karen's a mom again. Here we have the latest addition to her "herd". I'm not sure how many alapaca it takes to make a herd. But Karen is working on it.

The little one's name is Willow. She's all black and Karen said very sweet. A good size for a one week old baby!

Chris A and Yarn Ball Items

Everyone has been thinking about items for the Yarn Ball to raise funds for our 2 charities: Rwanda Knits and the VA Pgh Healthcare System.

Well, Chris A has something new for us. "buddy" water bottle holders. She made them to fit the 2 sizes of bottles: the pink one holds the larger bottle size. The faces bring a smile to your face and the quality "eyes" really add personality.

Then what do you do with the extra yarn? HATS!
